Earthen Arts Ecological Design is a regenerative land use & human settlement design service that applies pattern and
whole systems thinking to design beneficial interactions within the ecosystems we live.
Based in the Lehigh Valley of Eastern Pennsylvania
--- --- ---
This means we design landscapes intended for human use that behave like natural ecosystems.
--- --- ---
We use the patterns of the forests, leaves, streams, and meadows as guides when designing for our human needs.
Nature's patterns are time-tested ways that solve design challenges of stability, strength, form, and function.
Natural processes have already tested and selected the most optimum ways of transferring and storing energy,
building fertility, and cleaning toxins. Designing our environments to behave as & interact with the natural cycles
results in resilience in the face of stronger storms, stretches of drought, blizzards and other
increasingly erratic weather patterns.
--- --- ---
The name Earthen Arts is a reflection of the unique way we approach land/watershed restoration design.
Owner/Designer/Builder, JC Hogan, is a skilled artist & graphic designer who decided to start making art with dirt and a shovel
instead of a desk and a computer. Now what is created on paper with colored pencils becomes
living, breathing, multi-functional, multi-dimensional, and productive landscapes.

Earthen Arts is all about creating beautiful resilient, and naturally regenerative home & farm environments.
